What are cybercrimes and the two main types of it?

Cyber crimes are crimes perpetrated via the computer network i.e virtually through the internet but may occur without internet such as financial crime committed through ATM card or phone. It all falls within cyber crime, also called computer crime.

The two types might mean:

1. crimes committed through the instrumentality of computer, computer serves as a tool.

2. Crimes committed against a computer, that's is, computer is the object of attack.

Example of the first is where fraudster uses his computer in swiping an innocent market woman's bank account. The second is, a co-worker taking other co-worker's computer, changing or altering the content data.

The classification varies, a cybercrime could however involve both classifications.
