The laws of Ghana entitles a person to defend himself and/or his properties even to the extent of killing. What this means is that self defense is an example of what lawyers call ‘complete’ defense. A complete defense is an excuse at law that when pleaded, exculpates the accused person from any wrong doing which the law might have cited him for. Self defense is provided for in section 37 of Act 29.
