what is the consequence of the failure of the plaintiff to provide an address for service on the writ of summons and a defendant's failure to file an address for service?

The consequence is that the writ becomes defective and the process will not be accepted by the registrar for filing, but if it is accepted, it will be incompetent and struck out by the court. See Okafor vs Nweke (2007) 10 NWLR (pt. 1043) 521 at 533
