SANUSI, JCA. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): The applicants filed this motion on notice on 29th of November, 1999. The motion which was broughtpursuant to Section 16 and 28 of the Court of Appeal Act, cap 75 of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990, African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, cap 10 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 and under the inherent jurisdiction of this court as preserved by Section 6(6 ) of the 1979 Constitution as amended. In the application, the applicants who are twenty six in number are urging this court to grant them the two reliefs mentionedbelow:

An order staying further execution of part of the judgment of this honourable court in Appeal No. CA/L/27/99, delivered on the 15th day of June 1999 directing further arraignment of the Appellants/
