RULING

All the 47 Plaintiffs herein who were former Members of Parliament in the Third Republic of Ghana commenced the instant action on 13th October, 2011 against the Attorney General, acting on behalf of the Republic of Ghana for the following reliefs:

a. An order for the Republic of Ghana to pay them their gratuities or end of service benefits as Members of Parliament of the Third Republic of Ghana.

b. Interest at the prevailing commercial bank rate from the 31st day of December, 1981 to date of payment.

c. Costs including Solicitors’ fee.

The Defendant entered appearance on 20th October, 2011 and went on to file her statement of defence on 23rd January, 2012 denying the claim of the Plaintiffs. On 25th April, 2012, the Plaintiffs filed an application for directions and the Defendant also filed additional issues on 10th May, 2012.
