These applicants, who are referred to as the claimants in this suit, were employed by the Plateau State Government in 2022. However, only a few months after they commenced work, their employment was suspended following the emergence of a new administration after the 2023 elections in Plateau State. The new government later set up a committee to review the recruitment exercise carried out by the previous administration. After completing its assignment, the committee issued a White Paper Report in November 2023. Based on that report, the government released another press statement approving the recall of the affected workers whose appointments had been suspended and directing all MDAs to strictly implement the directive. Despite this, the applicants were prevented from resuming duty in line with the press release.
