HAFISATA AMALEBOBA J.A

This is a husband's Petition for annulment of the marriage between the parties and for ancillary reliefs. The uncontroverted facts of this case are that the parties who are both Ghanaian citizens, met at the Wangara Hotel in Accra in the year 2003. At the date of this meeting, the Respondent was an employee of the Wangara Hotel, while the Petitioner, a professional footballer with the Liberty Professionals Football Club in Accra, had just been called up to join the National Under 23 football team, the Black Meteors. Sometime after this meeting, the parties began an amorous relationship, which produced their first two male children. After several years of being in this relationship, the parties took a decision to legalize their union.

On 31st August 2013 the parties celebrated their marriage under the MARRIAGES ACT, 1884 - 1985 (CAP 127), at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. After the marriage, the parties did not cohabit, but stayed in separate homes, visit…
