JUDGMENT OF THE COURT
[1] This is an appeal from the ruling of the Industrial Court (Marete, J.), now renamed the Employment and Labour Relations Court, dismissing the appellant’s application for review of an earlier judgment delivered on 20th November 2013.
[2] On 1st November 2010, the appellant was employed by the respondent as a Principal Human Rights Officer in charge of Media and Communication under a contract for five (5) years. By a letter dated 21st February 2012, the employment of the appellant was terminated for misconduct with effect from 21st March 2012, following a recommendation of a disciplinary panel. His appeal against the termination of employment was dismissed by appeal panel on 14th May 2012. On 23rd July 2012 the appellant filed a statement of claim in the Industrial Court alleging that the termination of the contract was unlawful and in breach of the contract. He claimed special damages of Shs. 8,650,999/-, general and aggravated damages.
