(Delivering the Leading Judgment): The appellant as plaintiff in suit No. HID/68/2001 in which he sued the respondents at the Anambra State High Court of Justice sitting at Ogidi delivered 3rd July, 2001. The appellant sued the respondents seeking among other reliefs a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants/respondents, their servants and agents from ostracizing and excommunicating him or imposing fines on any member of “Umunna”, “Umunne”, and kindred whether male or female found dealing, communicating or transacting business with the plaintiff and further infringing in whatever manner with the plaintiff’s fundamental rights of free association, thought, expression


conscience and fair hearing, the sum of N5 Million Naira being special and general damages against the defendants/ respondents for loss and injury suffered by the appellant as plaintiff on account of the excommunication and ostracism meted out by the defendants/respondents on him.
