JOSEPH OLUBUNMI KAYODE OYEWOLE, JCA(DELIVERING THE LEADING JUDGMENT): This is in respect of an appeal against the judgment of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Judicial Division, sitting in Maitama, Abuja delivered on the 4th October, 2022 by HALILU, J.
The Appellant had forwarded a false report to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (hereinafter referred to simply as ‘NFIU’) on the 1st Respondent’s account with it which the Appellant subsequently owned up to after the Respondents had suffered negative public reactions and also published a public apology. The Respondents found the apology unacceptable and thus aggrieved, took out a writ of summons against the Appellant wherein they sought the reliefs contained in paragraph 48 of their statement of claim thus:
