OGUNTADE, J.C.A. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): In suit No.M/5/92, the appellants were the plaintiffs and the respondent the defendant. The appellants hereinafter referred to as the plaintiffs had in their statement of claim sought the following reliefs:

"1.A DECLARATION that the services of the plaintiffs withthe defendant were rendered redundant of the defendant by virtue of the defendant's letter of 22nd April, 1991 to the plaintiffs.

2.A DECLARATION that the plaintiffs are entitled to REDUNDANCY BENEFITS as stated in and by virtue of the provisions of the staff handbook on conditions of service and the Terms of Agreement reached between the defendant and the defendant's Senior Staff Association on Review of the Senior Staff condition of

service and other staff agreements existing and government the terms of the plaintiff's employment with the defendant.

3.The sum of N5,223,358.24 (Five Million, Two hundred and twenty-three thousand, three hundred and fifty-eight Naira, twenty-four…
