JUDGMENT ON CRIMINAL APPEAL

1.0 Background

1.1 This is a criminal appeal against the 9 years prison sentence that the trial Circuit Court, Keta imposed on the appellant after the conviction for various crimes the appellant together with the other convicts committed. The appeal was filed personally by the convict appellant pursuant to leave the Court granted on 12 October 2020 upon appellant’s application. The facts are that on 12 May 2017, the trial Circuit Court tried and convicted the appellant and three other accused persons for six offences ranging variously from conspiracy, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage, stealing, abetment of crime, and having in possession stolen property contrary to law. All the accused persons including the appellant denied the charges culminating in their trial by the Circuit Court, Keta. 

1.2 Except for the offence of ‘abetment’ and ‘having in possession stolen property’, the appellant was convicted of all the four counts that he faced at the trial. T…
