HUSSEIN MUKHTAR, JCA (Delivering the Leading Judgment): On the 28th day of February 2006, the Federal Ministry of Justice, through the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons other Related Matters (NAPTIP) wrote to the Honourable Chief Judge of Edo State, an Application under Section 340(2)(b) of the Criminal Procedure Law, Cap. 49, Volume ll, Laws of Bendel State, 1976 as applicable to Edo State, and the Indictment Procedure Rules, to file an information against the Appellant for the offences of:
a. Procurement of person for prostitution.
b. Organizing foreign travel, which promotes prostitution.
c. Deceitful inducement of person.
The consent of the Chief Judge was sought. The Learned trial judge assigned to handle the case, Honourable Justice E. F. Ikponmwan, granted leave to prosecute the Appellant for the offence of human trafficking.
