DAUDU, SAN (Delivering the Direction of the Committee): On the 7th of May 2013 when this matter came for Defence and Address, the respondent was absent. We were however satisfied by the Committee’s secretary that there was due notice in the Punch Newspaper (a national daily of nationwide circulation) of the day’s proceedings before the committee. We ruled that there was compliance proceedings before the committee. We ruled that there was compliance with the provisions of Rule 7 (1 and 2) of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee Rules (herein after referred to as ‘the Rules’) which permits notice of the publication of the sittings of this committee in a national newspaper in Nigeria.

We therefore considered the session’s cause list as published as due and sufficient notice to the respondent of the hearing of his case.
