ADAMU, JCA (Delivering the Lead Judgment): The respondent herein (as plaintiff) sued the appellant (as defendant) at the High Court of Justice, Kano, Kano State where he claimed the following reliefs:

“i. The sum of ₦200,000.00 being his professional fees/expenses incurred in respect of service rendered to the defendant at the defendant’s request in case No. WD/CR/228/98 Commissioner of Police v. Garba Danbatta - which sum of money the defendant has refused and or neglected to pay notwithstanding several demands.

ii. The sum of ₦40,000.00 being transportation, feeding and incidental expenses incurred in sending his staff to Lagos to pursue payment of the said bill.

WHEREOF the plaintiff claims against the defendant a total sum of ₦240,000.00 together with 10% court rate interest from the day of filing this suit until full liquidation of the whole sum”
