MOORE ASEIMO ABRAHAM ADUMEIN, J.S.C. (Delivering the Lead Judgment): The 1st and 2nd respondents, in this Court, were the claimants in Suit No: LD/ADR/91/2013, which was instituted at the High Court of Lagos State. The appellant, 3rd respondent, 4th respondent and 5th respondent were the 1st defendant, 2nd defendant, 3rd defendant and 4th defendant, respectively, in the said suit. The 1st and 2nd respondents claimed the following reliefs in paragraph 43 of their statement of claim.
“i. Damages (including general, special and exemplary damages) of ₦90,349,000,000 (Ninety billion, three hundred and forty nine million Naira);
ii. Interest on the said sum of ₦90,349,000,000 (Ninety billion, three hundred and forty nine million Naira) at the rate of 25% per annum from 14th September 2012 until the entire sum is paid to the Claimants;
