IGE, J.C.A. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): In the court below the respondent as plaintiff claimed against the appellants the following reliefs.
"(a) A declaration that the appellants' letter dated 29th November 1984 which purported to dismiss or terminate the respondent's employment, was null, void and of no effect;
(b)An order of mandamus compelling the defendants to withdraw the letter of dismissal;
(c)An order of mandamus compelling the defendant to reinstate the respondent to his position; and
(d)in the alternative for reinstatement, damages for wrongful dismissal."
Plaintiff/respondent spelt out the particulars of his special and general damages under paragraph 19 of the statement of claim as follows
