J U D G M E N T 

The parties were married on the 20th day of December 2008 at the Offices of the Registrar of Marriages, Accra Metropolitan Assembly. Prior to that, the parties had dated and cohabited for 3 years. 

The Petitioner is a Ghanaian resident in Ghana whilst the Respondent is a British citizen ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom. After the marriage the parties cohabited in Accra. There is one issue of the marriage, a girl named Candice Marie Owusuwaa Macdonald. She is nine years old. The Petitioner is currently a student at Legon and the Respondent is a mechanical engineer, who works with oil companies. He came to Ghana to work.  

Per the petition filed on 21st of April, 2015 Petitioner is praying for reliefs  as follows:

a. Petitioner be granted custody of the child with reasonable access to the  Respondent; 

b. An order compelling Respondent to pay to the Petitioner a lump sum compensation of One hundred thousand pounds sterling (£100,000.00) or  its cedi equivalent.
