OGUNWUMIJU, J.C.A. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): This is an appeal from the ruling of the Governorship and Legislative Houses Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Ilorin delivered on 31st July, 2007 wherein the lower Tribunal held that the appellants herein lacked the locus standi to present the petition. Dissatisfied with that decision, the appellants filed this appeal.

The case of the appellants is that the 1st appellant is a registered political party duly registered by INEC to take part in the 2007 general elections. The 2nd appellant was nominated by the 1st appellant as her Kwara State gubernatorial candidate for the purposes of the election. Consequently, the 2nd appellant underwent the screening exercise conducted by the 3rd respondent for all governorship candidates. The appellants allege that neither the name nor logo of the 1st appellant nor the name or photograph of the 2nd appellant appeared on the ballot papers used for the election.
