(Delivering the Leading Judgment): This is an appeal against the judgment of the Federal High Court of Justice sitting in Yola, Adamawa State (hereinafter referred to as: “the Court below”) Coram: A. M. ANKA, J. delivered on the 05-07-2024 in Charge No. FHC/YL/25c/2018. The Appellant herein was convicted under the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2022 (as amended) and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment on 20 counts to run concurrently.
The Appellant, along with two other Defendants, were charged with accepting and making payment of a sum of money above the threshold, contrary to Section 1(a) and punishable under Section 16 of Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2022 as amended. The Appellant was the Director General of Adamawa State PDP Campaign Organization for 2015 Presidential Election at the material time.
