ELECHI JCA (Delivering the Lead Judgment): The respondent as plaintiff in the court of trial filed a writ of summons in suit No. FHC/CA/
CS/66/2012 before Hon. Justice Phoebe M. Ayua of the Federal High Court, Calabar Division. In that action, he claimed as follows:
A declaration that the mutilations of the plaintiff’s degree result and the consequent lower class of degree result awarded thereto is an infringement of his civil right. 2. An order directing the defendants to tender a written apology to the plaintiff for the embarrassment, ridicule, psychological torture done to him by the actions and inactions of the defendants in the discharge of their duties.
