MUHAMMED LAWAL SHUAIBU, JCA (DELIVERING THE LEAD JUDGMENT): This is an appeal against the judgment of High Court of Justice, Rivers State Coram: Hon. Justice Chinwendu Nwogu delivered on the 18th day of March, 2020 dismissing an appeal of the Appellant against an earlier judgment of the trial Senior Magistrate Grade I, Port-Harcourt.
The Appellant and three others stood trial before the trial Magistrate Court on charges of conspiracy, contempt of Court and assault. The Appellant herein was convicted and sentenced to one month imprisonment on Counts 1 and 2 with an option of fine of N5,000, and to a one month imprisonment without an option of fine on Counts 3 and 4. The Appellant’s appeal to the High Court was dismissed and hence appealed to this Court on the 16th day of June, 2020 which contains seven grounds of appeal.
