ABIRU, J.S.C. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): This appeal is against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Akure Judicial Division, delivered on the 8th of December, 2017 in Appeal No.CA/AK/205CA/2014, and which affirmed the conviction of and sentence passed on the appellant by the High Court of Osun State in a judgment delivered on the 28th of February, 2014 in Suit No HOS/6C/2011.
The appellant was arraigned with two others on a six-count charge. The appellant, along with his two co-accused persons and others at large, was alleged to have conspired to obtain property under false pretences and to have obtained different sums of money from two victims with intent to defraud and under false pretences and to have stolen the sums of money so obtained from the two victims, while at the same time impersonating the then Governor of Osun State.
