JUDGMENT

The plaintiffs’ claims against the defendants jointly and severally are for general and special damages for loss and damage suffered by them as a result of the defendants’ intentional burning of the first plaintiff’s house situated at Nwogu village on or about 16 September 1984. Additionally, the second plaintiff’s claims against the sixth defendant only damages for injuries inflicted on him by the sixth defendant on or about 16 September 1984.
The plaintiffs’ case as contained in their pleadings is the following: For some time there has been a religious dispute between them and the defendants. On or about 16 September 1984 a pupil in the first plaintiff’s Arabic school quarrelled and fought with two women both of whom live in the second defendant’s house and one of them is married to the third defendant.
