AN ACT to promote access to social protection, provide social protection services to specified persons, establish and specify institutional arrangements to secure social protection and provide for related matters.PASSED by Parliament and assented to by the President:

Preliminary Provisions

1. Application of the Act

This Act applies to a person who falls within the following categories of vulnerability:

(a)chronically poor;

(b)economically at-risk;

(c)socially vulnerable; and

(d)a person affected by a national or a local emergency.

2. Object of the Act

(1)The object of the Act is to

(a)reduce poverty and vulnerability among the persons specified in section 1;

(b)promote the well-being of the persons specified in section 1;
