AN ACT to establish a university for development studies and to provide for related matters.

The University

1. Establishment of the University

(1)There is hereby established a university to be known as the University for Development Studies.
(2)The University is a body corporate and shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue and be sued in its corporate name.
(3)The University may award its own degrees including honorary degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions.

2. Aims of the University

The aims of the University are,
(a)to provide higher education to persons suitably qualified and capable of benefiting from such education;
