An Act of Parliament to make provision in relation to marine insurance

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Marine Insurance Act.

2. Interpretation

In this Act—action” includes suit, counterclaim and set-off;"Commissioner" has the meaning assigned to it in section 2 (1) of the Insurance Act;freight” includes the profit derivable by a shipowner from the employment of his ship to carry his own goods or movables as well as freight payable by a third party, but does not include passage money;insurable property” means any ship or movables capable of being insured against maritime perils;maritime perils” means the perils consequent on or incidental to the navigation of the sea, that is to say, perils of the seas, fire, war, pirates, rovers, thieves, captures, seizures, restraints and detainments of foreign go…
