An Act of Parliament to make provision about sexual offences, their definition, prevention and the protection of all persons from harm from unlawful sexual acts, and for connected purposes
1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Sexual Offences Act, 2006.
2. Interpretation
(1)In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires -"act which causes penetration" means an act contemplated under this Act;"child" has the meaning assigned thereto in the Children Act No. 8 of 2001;"complainant" means the Republic or the alleged victim of a sexual offence and in the case of a child or a person with mental disabilities, includes a person who lodges a complaint on behalf of the alleged victim where the victim is unable or inhibited from lodging and following up a complaint of sexual abuse;"consent" has the meaning assigned to it under t…
