An Act of Parliament to prohibit the practice of female genital mutilation, to safeguard against violation of a person’s mental or physical integrity through the practice of female genital mutilation and for connected purposes

Part I – PRELIMINARY

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act.

2. Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—"Board" means the Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board established under section 3;"female genital mutilation" comprises all procedures involving partial or total removal of the female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs, or any harmful procedure to the female genitalia, for non-medical reasons, and includes—(a)clitoridectomy, which is the partial or total removal of the clito…
