Part I – PRELIMINARY

1. Citation

These Rules may be cited as the Public Security (Detained and Restricted Persons) Rules and shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 17th October, 1978.

2. Interpretation

(1)In these Rules, unless the context otherwise requires—"Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Prisons;"detention officer" means an officer in charge, or any member of the Kenya Prisons Service of whatever rank;"major offence" means any of the acts specified in Part II of the Schedule to these Rules;"minor offence" means any of the acts specified in Part I of the Schedule to these Rules;"officer in charge" means a person appointed under ru…
