An Act to Regulate the Medical- Residency Training Programme in Nigeria; and for Related MattersEnacted by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria:

Part I – Regulatory Body

1. Regulatory body

(1)There shall be a Residency Training Programme (in this Act referred to as “the Training Programme”) for the training of all medical practitioners and dental surgeons in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
(2)The National Medical Postgraduate College of Nigeria shall be the regulatory body of the Training Programme.

2. Structure

(1)The Training Programme shall be in two continuous phases—
(a)Junior Residency (Registrar Cadre) ; and
(b)Senior Residency (Senior Registrar Cadre).
