An Act to Establish the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention for the Prevention, Detection, Investigation, Monitoring and Control of Communicable Diseases in Nigeria ; and for Related Matters.Enacted by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria :

1. Objectives

The objective of this Act is to establish a Centre with the responsibility to-

(a)protect Nigerians from the impact of communicable diseases of public health importance;

(b)maintain the highest state of alertness to detect and respond to disease outbreaks, public health disasters, mass morbidity and mortality due to pathogenic, chemical or biological agents;
