Under the power conferred on the Rules of Court Committee by subsection (1) of section 86 of the Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560)

1. Application of Rules

These Rules apply to adoption proceedings.[Amended by the substituion of Rule 1 by Adoption (Amendment) Rules, 2019]

1A. Jurisdiction for adoption proceedings

The High Court shall have exclusive original jurisdiction in matters relating to adoption.[Amended by the insertion of Rule 1A by Adoption (Amendment) Rules, 2019]

1B. Application for adoption order

A person who seeks to obtain an adoption order shall apply to the Court as in Form 1 set out in Schedule 1.[Amended by the insertion of Rule 1B by Adoption (Amendment) Rules, 2019]
